Dubbing Italian style

The other day I was sitting on the couch, watching television and typing something on the lap top with McLeod's daughters (or Le Sorelle McLeod as it is known in Italy) on the television when I had to turn and check that I was in fact watching the correct show.

Why? What happened? you ask.

Well, I am not embaressed to say I like to watch Tempesta D'amore although I have not seen it for a while as bel ragazzo does not like it and more so I keep forgetting what time it is on and which channel. (Stop laughing at me. It is so simple that I can at least understand most of it! Us not yet fluent Italian speakers cannot be fussy with their television viewing. Anyway bel ragazzo's mum is a fan too so I am not alone!)

So I was watching McLeod's daughters and the red head girl was speaking (Stevie, is that her name?), yet she was speaking with the voice of Miriam from Tempesta D'Amore! I could not believe it. I cannot watch it now as that is the voice of Miriam.

Can they not employ some more voice over staff here in Italy?

It is off putTing to hear the different voices. I am so used to the dubbing in French that it takes me a while to get into the same shows in English or Italian.

Hi Scintilla,
I know what you mean. I got used to watching Tempesta in Italian and then I heard it is the native German once (not that I could understand) and it sounded wrong!

Don't worry Leanne, I like Tempesta d'amore too! ;)
But I do notice that on the shows it is always the same people doing the dubbing.

Hi Carla,
So glad there is someone else out there who likes Tempesta d'amore!
