Rome is still one big work in progress. I mentioned a while ago that all the old cobble stones are being removed from the main roads, and reset in a more smooth fashion. It is a great idea, and I am glad that they are not replacing the old cobble stones with pavement...but the city is still one big mess with traffic jams day in and out.
To make matters worse there was a 24 hour transport strike yesterday and we were all warned that there would be no trains, planes, buses or trams...even ferries for that matter - not just in Rome but Italy wide. So anyone and everyone was driving around Rome yesterday...buses too since the 24 hour transport strike was in reality...not a transport strike.
