My move to Italy - Part 3

Part 1 and Part 2 of this tale if you are just tuning in.

I was not happy in Australia. If you ask my family or friends they will tell you that. Something was not right. Something was missing.

I had lost a lot of people whom I thought had been friends...but well...they were not. I was working full time with a great company but life was so mundane. I am normally a happy person but all I did was whine and complain. Something had to change.

Hmmm..remember that return ticket? Why not use that to go on a 6 week holiday to Italy? I thought. I had some friends still in London that I could meet up with and for the rest of the trip I would just go alone. I had never travelled alone before, but as my twin sister pointed out not many people could get 6 weeks holiday - so if I wanted to go I would have to go alone. My friends kept telling me that if I went I would never come back - but I just laughed and shrugged my shoulders. I honestly was not thinking to do that.

So off I set to the other side of the world. The strange chain of events started however just before I left. I had been bored in my job and literally days before I went to Italy I was offered a job working in a company that was very exciting. It was a friend of my brothers and I had a brief chat with them, saying that I would get back to them after my 6 weeks holiday.

My bank account had also flourished. I always said to myself that when I had a certain amount of money I could go and live in Italy...and just before my 6 week holiday I had that exact sum...strange...

I was living with my aunt and had been hoping to move out. When I was in Italy she called saying that an apartment had become available and it could be mine...more strange...

All these things were being set in place for me to live a great life in Australia. Everything I 'wanted' could be mine. And I had not done anything to achieve this. I am lazy remember.

So off I went to Italy....and when I set foot on the other side of the world I knew that I would not be back - to Australia that is.

I think the last sentence sums it all up very well! :-)

Oh the lift thing is my biggest fear in these ancient Italian buildings! I try to avoid them at all costs! Hope the move went well :)

Ciao Lucio,
Yes - the last sentence does sum it up very well!

Hi Monika,
I got stuck in the lift in my first apartment here and the fire brigade had to be called to rescue me. i have not really liked them since then!
