Back in Rome after a lovely, relaxing and doctor wise productive time in Malito, Calabria. The days were nice and warm, the nights amazingly cool, the air so crisp and clean...we did not want to leave. Bel ragazzo and I were trying as hard as we could to fill our lungs with as much pine scented, mountainous air as possible. It is shocking how dirty the air is here in Rome (and most major cities). You only really notice it once you are gone.

We went for many strolls around his town, armed with the camera and I was on a mission to discover a new street. Easier said then done when Malito is a town of 800 people and I have been there many, many times. In the end I did find a sort of new street - one I have walked before but never with the camera so that sort of counts!

With the sun shining so brightly we even headed off to the beach which was practically deserted! September is the best time to swim here as the water is warm after slowly heating up over the summer and the August holiday makers have all gone home.

We cannot wait to leave Rome and hopefully live by the seaside again. The count down is on. Apparently in 2 weeks we will know our winter and summer placements... I cannot wait!

In the mean time I am going to be away from the blog for a few days/weeks - all depends on my friends at Telecom really and if they can be bothered to bring us a new modem. So I'll be seeing you less frequently for a while and in the mean time here are some more pictures of Malito and the seaside in Calabria. Bel ragazzo thinks it's funny that I take so many photos of his town, but as I remind him the novelty still has not worn off. I love the old Italian villages that have not been affected by tourists. They are so quaint and beautiful and even the smallest things like a lamp post is exciting for me to see. I've always been a city girl and Australia as we know is a world away from the ancient medieval towns of Italy.

I love these photos! Must go to Italy soon...

RE deleting comments: there should be a little gray trashcan at the bottom of each comment. Just click on that and another window will open asking if you really want to delete it.

Hi Jennie,
Glad you like the photo's! It really is a lovely village.
With regards to the little trash can to delete comments, I don't seem to have that option. Oh well. I have put word verification back on to try and stop the spam!

I love the photos of Malito. The town is SO much like Carpanzano! :)

It's too bad we couldn't meet up this time around...for some reason my text messages weren't working...I think it was because I was bouncing around 3 different networks at any given moment. Can't wait to catch up!! :)

Ciao bella!!

Ciao Lulu,
You're back. Well met up next time you are here - of that I am sure. I have to tell you that I was sitting on our friends balcony and there was a village directly ahead and I asked them which town it was, and low and behold it was yours!!!! Cannot wait to hear your stories.

Hi NYC,
Glad you like the photos :) You'll get to Calabria one of these days...it's not really on the tourist track but is worth it if you know where to go.
